Geometric Wallpaper
Geometric wallpapers: hairpin arches pinstriped in gold on navy, bees on a gold honeycomb lattice, ginkgo fans overlapping like roof tiles, a Mondrian grid outlined in raised gold, a plaid tipped onto the diagonal at full volume. You notice the shape first. Colour comes after.

Choosing geometric wallpaper
Where it works
Geometrics settle in fastest where a room already has straight lines. Hallways suit them. So does a bathroom, or a kitchen with plain flat cabinets. For a bedroom, go gentle. Scallop Fans lays powder-blue ginkgo tiles over pebbled white, and Woven Check weaves three blues across cream, both of them restful. Navy Deco and Gold Honeycomb go the other way, gold on navy, and we'd keep them for evening rooms (a cloakroom, a bar). Diagonal Plaid is one wall only. Magenta and chartreuse bands cross over cream and black, so give it the wall behind a bed or a desk.
Picking between the designs
Settle the shape before anything else. Arches feel the most architectural, and Navy Deco and Blue Arches both use them. Fans and tiles are softer, and Scallop Tiles does tiles in teal and hot pink. Gold Grid is the grid, dusty pink and olive boxed in by raised gold outlines, with Olive Plaid and Midnight Checkerboard nearby if you'd rather a check. Circles? Slate Circles and Denim Rings. Next, how hard should the edge be? Navy Deco and Gold Grid are crisp. Painted Squares and Painted Dots were painted by hand and they wobble a little, which is why they look right in an older house. Gold Honeycomb breaks every rule on this page. Engraved gold bees on a hexagon lattice. A geometric with a subject.
