Choosing animal wallpaper
Where it works
Animals are for rooms with a sense of humour: a downstairs loo, a boot room, a child's bedroom, a bathroom. Koi Pond and Golden Koi, gold scales on grey water, are made for bathrooms where the metallic can catch light. The bees, Gold Honeycomb and Midnight Bees on deep navy, are formal enough to sit in a dining room or a study. Leaping Hares, navy and white on pale blue-grey, belongs in a nursery or a corridor. Tigers & Dragons, flat vermillion and jade on blush pink, is a playroom design.
Picking between the designs
Group them by where the animal lives. Water: Koi Pond, Golden Koi, Marbled Koi drifting over gold-crackled blue-grey, Koi Ripples, Still Water. Air: Gold Honeycomb, Midnight Bees, Bumble Magnolia, the butterflies in Butterfly Peony. Garden: Beetle Garden, peonies and poppies drawn like an antique plate with beetles, moths and bees through them. Field and forest: Leaping Hares, Deer Park, Owl Thicket, Grey Dogs. The wild end: Tigers & Dragons, the Tiger Magnolia mural, Tiger Strokes, Leopard Confetti and Blush Leopard, where the animal is a print rather than a portrait. If the room is small, choose a design where the animal is small and repeated, the bees or the koi, rather than the life-size tigers.
